Online Tuition

Online tuition offers an effective alternative to traditional face-to-face tuition. It combines the personal connection of one-to-one teaching with the convenience and resources of modern technology. This makes it an ideal choice for busy adults who want to learn, progress, and enjoy music as well as younger students who can enjoy the security of home and a familiar instrument to play.

To get started with online lessons, all you need is a mobile phone, tablet or laptop with a stable Wi-Fi connection. Lessons can take place over numerous platforms including Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom and FaceTime.

Over time, you can enhance the learning experience by using a USB microphone for clearer, more defined sound and an additional webcam to provide better visibility of posture and hand movements.

My online studio is designed and well equipped to deliver clear, effective and engaging lessons. It is a friendly space geared towards helping students learn, grow and enjoy music.

Intermediate & Advanced Tuition

Many of my pupils are at intermediate and advanced levels of performance. Some are talented children who perform at local festivals as well as preparing for exams. I teach pianists of all levels, including those who are preparing for entrance auditions to university and conservatoire. Many of my students have gone on to follow this path.

Students searching for a teacher at this level need a teacher who can solve technical difficulties, help to develop effective and analytical practice routines that not only improve technical ability, but increase the speed at which the student can access and learn these more challenging works.

“My son has been enjoying his music lessons and is making steady progress under Debra's guidance. Debra creates a positive and encouraging learning environment, and it is clear she has a strong grasp of how to teach music in a way that keeps my son engaged.”

Lessons for Young People

I have extensive experience teaching young people to play the piano. The lessons are comprehensive as well as fun and lively. You can be sure that your child will gain a thorough understanding of notes and rhythm as well as a good technical grounding.

Many of my pupils take their piano playing seriously, take exams and participate in Music Festivals. Some go on to study music at conservatoires and universities, choosing to pursue a career in music.

I use a wide range of repertoire and methods to inspire young people and keep them motivated. Each child is different and I embrace these differences with individual programmes of study. My experience allows me to identify and fulfil the needs at every stage of a child's musical development, fostering a lifelong love of music and piano.
